The installation system consists of mortar bed over a separation layer,
leveled to obtain a smooth and properly sloped surface.
A reinforcement (AKS mesh or steel fiber) can be added to the mortar bed.
The reinforcement has no structual function and does not prevent crack formation.
It can, however, reduce the width of cracks and the occurrence of height offsets.
After applying a bond slurry, the tiles are laid and vibrated into place to create a compacted and monolithic floor system.
The completion is accomplished by applying a cement-silica sand grout into the remaining narrow joints between the tiles.
◊non-bonded ceramic floor tile installation
◊system thickness 3 1/8"
•Setting bed (mud bed/cement-sand mixture) approx. 2 1/2"
•Hexagonal tile - thickness 5/8" or 3/4"
•Epoxy resin - silica sand grout
◊for new construction on a floor level with a lower floor underneath
◊on top of (relatively) fresh concrete (minimum age: 3 weeks)
◊on top of a concrete slab with already integrated radiating floor heating system
◊can be installed over existing floors which surfaces have been prepared or have been contaminated with materials which would prevent a proper bond.
